2026 guide to AI training formats for executive committees

Everyone on your board agrees the leadership team needs to get serious about AI. Then you look at the market and it turns unreadable: two-day seminars nobody can schedule, bootcamps built for freelancers, 18-month degree programs, and no prices anywhere. This guide compares what actually exists in 2026, with real ranges and the criteria that separate the formats.

Why the leadership team goes first

Two factual reasons. Shadow AI first: 75 percent of employees already use AI at work, mostly without rules, and rules imposed by IT get worked around while rules signed by leadership get followed. Then the EU AI Act: Article 4 requires training measures proportionate to each role, and the executive committee's role is to arbitrate AI strategy. Training leadership first settles both files at once.

The four market formats in 2026

The one-or-two-day seminar. The most sold format, around 1,000 to 2,000 euros per day per participant on open-enrollment courses. Its problem is not content, it is the calendar: getting a full committee together for two days pushes the decision back by months.

The dedicated half-day. The shortest format on the market: pre-diagnostic beforehand, live demos on the company's own cases, decisions and a one-page usage policy at the end. Built for deciding, not for turning every member into an expert. Details on our executive committee page.

The multi-week program with coaching. From a few thousand to fifteen thousand euros over 4 to 12 weeks. The right tool once the committee is aligned and individual members want to build real practice, like our 12-week bootcamp.

The executive master. Top engineering and business schools now offer them: 12 to 18 months, degree-granting, tens of thousands of euros. An individual career project, not a committee alignment tool.

What it costs, and who pays

Detailed price tiers are in our piece on what executive AI training actually costs in 2026. The point most comparisons skip: sticker price is not paid price. In France, certified programs are fundable through mutualized training funds your company already pays into, with published caps per industry branch, compiled in our OPCO funding guide.

The four questions that sort the market

At comparable format and price, ask these before signing. Who actually attended this program: executives in post or career changers? Is the content prepared on your real cases or generic? What remains afterwards: a signed usage policy, documented proof for Article 4 of the EU AI Act, a structured follow-up? And is the provider certified for public funding, without which the price you compare is the full price?

Want to compare options on your specific case, with a funding estimate before you commit? A 20-minute call is enough.

Frequently asked questions

How long should executive committee AI training take?

A well-prepared half-day is enough to align a committee and sign a usage policy, provided a pre-diagnostic was done beforehand. One-or-two-day formats add individual practice but collide with calendars, which is the first reason committee training projects stall.

How much does AI training for a leadership team cost?

On open-enrollment courses, expect 1,000 to 2,000 euros per day per participant. For a private session with the full committee and content prepared on your cases, providers quote on request. Get a written quote, and deduct available public funding before comparing.

Does leadership training count for the EU AI Act?

Yes. Article 4 requires AI training measures proportionate to each role. For a committee that arbitrates AI strategy, a dedicated and documented session (program, attendance, certificates) is exactly that kind of measure.

Should the leadership team be trained before the staff?

In most cases, yes. 75 percent of employees already use AI at work, so the topic is not waiting for leadership. Training the committee first gets the usage policy signed at the right level, then staff training rolls out without a gap between speech and practice.
