If your company runs payroll in France, it already pays a mandatory training contribution into a mutualized fund managed by sector bodies called OPCO. Most leaders never claim a euro back. Everyone will tell you the fund can pay for AI training; almost nobody tells you how much, how long it takes, or what kills a claim. Here are the amounts actually published for 2026, checked on July 20 against the official schedules.
The three prerequisites, no exceptions
A claim stands on three conditions. Your company must be current on its training contribution (collected with social charges). The training provider must hold the Qualiopi certification, mandatory since 2022 for any mutualized funding. And the claim must be filed before the first day of training: retroactive funding does not exist, and this is the single most common way claims die.
The 2026 published amounts, fund by fund
- Atlas (financial services, consulting, engineering firms): 40 euros per hour before tax, capped at 150 hours per course, within 18,000 euros per company per year for the engineering-and-consulting branch (25 euros per hour for real estate). Yearly quotas apply by company size: up to 3 funded courses under 11 employees, 5 from 11 to 49, 7 from 50 to 299. Atlas collective actions are funded at 100 percent. Source: Atlas criteria.
- Afdas (culture, media, sport, tourism): for companies under 50 employees, up to 40 euros per hour per trainee, capped yearly at 1,100 euros under 11 employees and 1,800 euros from 11 to 49. Teaching costs only. Source: Afdas schedule.
- Opco 2i (industry): skills development plan capped at 4,800 euros per company per year under 50 employees, subject to available funds.
Two takeaways. The gap between branches is huge: a consulting firm under Atlas has roughly ten times the yearly cap of an agency under Afdas. And "subject to available funds" is not boilerplate: envelopes run out during the year and criteria tighten, so file early.
The real timeline of a claim
The provider supplies the quote, the detailed program and its Qualiopi certificate. Your company files the claim on its OPCO's online portal before the training starts, processing takes two to four weeks, and the fund notifies the granted amount before you commit. With direct payment (subrogation), the fund pays the provider and you advance nothing. Not sure which OPCO covers you? It is listed on your URSSAF registration, and your accountant finds it in two minutes.
What changed in 2026 for AI training
Article 4 of the EU AI Act now requires companies using AI to take training measures for their staff. That reframes the claim: you are no longer funding a perk, you are funding a compliance measure with money already paid in. We detailed what the Act still requires after the June 2026 omnibus in Is the EU AI Act delayed?, and our executive AI training programs are Qualiopi-certified and eligible.

Get in touch →Frequently asked questions
How much will an OPCO cover for AI training?
It depends on your industry branch and company size. Published 2026 benchmarks: Atlas funds up to 40 euros per hour within 18,000 euros per year (engineering and consulting), Afdas caps at 1,100 or 1,800 euros per year for companies under 50 employees, Opco 2i at 4,800 euros per year. The exact amount is notified after processing, before you commit.
How long does an OPCO claim take?
Two to four weeks of processing after a complete file is submitted (quote, program, Qualiopi certificate). The claim must be filed before the first day of training: retroactive funding is not possible.
Is AI training eligible for OPCO funding?
Yes, like any professional training, as long as the provider is Qualiopi-certified and the course builds job-related skills. The training obligation in Article 4 of the EU AI Act strengthens these claims further.
What if the fund's budget is exhausted?
Envelopes run out during the year and criteria can tighten. If coverage is reduced or refused, options remain: pay from the skills budget, use shorter formats to spread the effort, or refile at the start of the next year when envelopes reload.
